There have been some website updates I’ve posted within the Website Kickoff series I started. I believe the site has been around long enough to where it’s no longer in the “Kick-off” phase. I expanded this idea on how to structure the content. The goal being the content is useful for a variety of users but also easy to navigate towards. All while with the Modular Lesson touch. Here’s what this update includes:
New Segments
I thought with posting with one of the new segments, I would also announce the others for the site and the content associated with it
Tech-Peeves
This is a renaming to an existing series called Pet-Peeves. It will still be focused on scenarios I’ve experienced or heard of that I find problematic. They involve technology but range from the IT industry or some technological topic that is controversial. My goal is to bring light to the problem, provide my perspective, and hope to have others participate
(W.S.U.S) – WebSiteUpdateSeries
This will strictly focus on the website changes I make and the reasons behind them (just like I’m doing now 😀). This will accomplish a few things. It’s a log for me as I work on the site. I think it will be cool to look back on this journey. Also, I’d like to provide transparency on what I do that way for anyone that cares how this site is maintained, which will see from my end.
(T.C.P) – Tackling Computer Problems
This series will target the average computer person the most. Here, I will post miscellaneous computer problems I’ve dealt with. Once I find the solution, I try to document these for reference. I’d like to push those notes and future findings for those to also solve that problem
UI Changes
Here are some quick noticeable changes on the site. Content is truly important, but making the user interface (UI) work with the content makes all the difference.
Navigation Bar Changes
As you might’ve noticed, I adjusted the main navigation bar of the site. I wanted to re-categorize the way the content flows on the site. I wanted to primarily focus on the segments mentioned above. I also added a drop down menu to include the categories of technology I will focus on. Of course, this will change over time but for now i’ve added a list based on knowledge and interest that will be covered in the future.
Removed Side Bar Content
I’ve removed some sidebar content that I found was irrelevant. Specifically The Archive and Comments section. I find it taking up space but with no purpose. I wanted it, for now, to be simple and be useful. We will see if it helps and change accordingly
Moving Forward
I will post site changes in this format to keep everyone who is interested on the progress of the site. I’m more excited to witness this timeline and how things will transpire from it. I also hope that the changes are useful for my audience.
